The Kunstpalast Dusseldorf published on its Facebook page today this fabulous painting by Canaletto, “Veduta di Via di Ripetta a Roma”.
It’s incredible. I’ve been crossing this junction in Rome 4 times a day for the past 14 years, going to work and out for the lunch break, and did not know neither that this painting existed, nor that it was in Dusseldorf.
And now I live not far away from the Kunstpalast, and I cross the river in front of the Museum every day going to work. A good thought for 2012 is to go and see this fabulous painting. As the Canaletto paintings at the National Gallery in London kept me good company and reminded me of my dear Adriatic when I used to live in Pimlico-on-Thames in the 90s, this Canaletto will remind me of the golden light of Rome.
Quando si dice il destino…Buon Anno!
There have been Sex and the City afternoons. And Dr.House nights. And Mad Men Sunday evenings. Now it’s time for getting dressed for dinner with Downton Abbey.
If you loved Gosford Park, read “Snob” by Julian Fellowes, didn’t miss a single James Ivory movie, spent your teenage years reading E.M.Forster and Virginia Woolf, Downton Abbey cannot be missed. And the costumes, the costumes!
You and I are lucky tonight because here’s another clip from DJ Vida…Max Herre, Blick nach vorn, recalling Summer in Kreuzberg!
I took this picture on a train platform in Frankfurt two weeks ago, after a series of incredibly upbeat meetings in town. Incredible because my clients in Frankfurt are seldom upbeat, they are always very cautious and pessimist. But this time they were cautiously optimistic, notwithstanding the n-eurotic news surrounding us all.
The Financial Times and The Economist continue in their anti-German campaign. Still, if they manipulate the public opinion with their editorials, they cannot hide the news. Germany is powering ahead with two engines now, demand and exports. And the reason is: jobs. Continue reading ‘The German Job’
Yesterday, a mild morning, even if a bit gray. Continue reading ‘Rhein Ufer: le ragazze’
Our friend Vida, a Berlin-lover Eastern Italian now living in Brussels (Hi Vida!) suggests to chill out during the holidays with Joy Delanane. Born in Berlin, Schoeneberg, she’s a fabulous singer…thanks Vida for the beautiful gift! We’re already fans…and neighbours, of course. Continue reading ‘With Joy’
